A few months after we put a sign outside of our showroom, in walked a lovely transplant to Dover—designer, Nina Hendrick. Nina's tutorials, inspirations, DIY ideas, and decorations are incredible, and we knew we wanted to be a part of her home remodel. Quickly after we had a chat and Nina went home, the designers here scrambled online and went through her Instagram, Pinterest and blog. We felt honored to be working with a woman who has such a great eye for design.

Nina came to Dream Home Cabinets with a vision to redesign her kitchen and make it custom to fit her family's daily lifestyle. Because of Nina's experience with interior design and having remodeled the kitchen in their previous home, she came to us knowing what her wants and needs were.

Nina loves marble countertops and wanted to incorporate that throughout the kitchen. We worked with an importer in Mass, Marble and Granite, Inc., and Nina was able to visit their facility to hand-select her marble countertops for the whole project. She chose White Carrara Extra Honed Marble. For the cabinetry, we went with Fieldstone, the door style is Fairfield with Wings opaque for the kitchen perimeter cabinets and custom stain alder wood for the island.

Nina loves to host friends and family so the island became a focal point throughout the design process, tying the kitchen spaces together. Nina brought us a wood stain sample that she wanted for the island and floating shelves. Although Fieldstone did not have the exact wood type and stain, we were able to match and create a custom stain to apply to the alder wood cabinets. We wrapped the sides and back of the island with Wainscot panels and added a double-stack marble countertop.

This project was one of my favorites because we got creative with certain aspects. We decided to suggest a dog bowl station for her adorable dog, Gracie, where we used the same Fieldstone Cabinets and then had the stone fabricator make pieces to ensure any overflow or slobber wouldn’t damage the cabinetry! The coffee station with wet bar is also a favorite of ours.
